Crossville, TN – Light snow is expected across the Cumberland Plateau this evening, while much of the rest of Middle Tennessee sees little to no accumulation, according to the National Weather Service in Nashville.
Forecasters said the primary focus for any snowfall accumulation remains on the Cumberland Plateau, including Crossville, Cookeville, Jamestown, and surrounding higher-elevation communities. Most locations on the Plateau are expected to receive a dusting up to one-half inch, with one or two isolated spots possibly reaching up to 1 inch.
Areas west of the Plateau, including Nashville, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, and Columbia, are expected to see flurries only, with no measurable accumulation.
The National Weather Service noted that gusty winds may limit accumulation by helping to dry road surfaces, keeping overall travel impacts minimal. However, brief slick spots could still develop on untreated roads, bridges, and elevated surfaces, especially overnight into the Thursday morning commute.
Forecast confidence is medium regarding snowfall timing and totals, with the greatest uncertainty tied to localized banding across the Plateau. Snow chances will taper off later tonight as drier air moves in.
Drivers traveling across the Plateau are encouraged to use caution, slow down, and allow extra time Thursday morning, particularly on secondary roads. Conditions are expected to improve quickly after sunrise.
This weather setup may be most noticeable for early-morning commuters and school transportation in higher elevations, while impacts elsewhere across Middle Tennessee remain limited.
Residents should continue to monitor updates from the National Weather Service as conditions evolve through the evening.
